Kristen Cometto-Russ joined the Kids Kicking Cancer team in August 2023 as Chief Development Officer, offering 15+ years of experience in philanthropy and nonprofit management. Specializing in building infrastructure and leading strategic processes, Cometto-Russ knows the true value of cultivating enduring relationships to support an organization’s long-term sustainability.
Previously, Cometto-Russ served Oakland University as Director of Philanthropy, to both the School of Business Administration and School of Nursing. During her almost seven years of service, Cometto-Russ led strategy discussions and major gift fundraising efforts, aligning with the goals set forth in support of the university’s $150M capital campaign, in addition to management of the school’s board of directors and additional auxiliary boards.
Cometto-Russ has also served as Director of Development, Membership and Special Events at Culture Source; Director of Annual Giving and Membership Programs at Cranbrook Institute of Science; Assistant Director of Annual Giving at Cranbrook Schools and Director of Development at Detroit PAL.
Cometto-Russ earned a Master’s in Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts from Oakland University, as well as a Certificate in Fundraising Management (CFRM) from Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Most recently, Cometto received her third Prime Manager Award in recognition of exceptional performance as a front-line fundraiser nationally.
Cometto-Russ currently resides in Lake Orion, Michigan with her husband and son.
