Robert Bronstein

Rob Bronstein co-founded The Scion Group and has led its growth over 20 years from a two-person consulting practice to the largest owner/operator of off-campus student housing communities globally. Scion’s current portfolio consists of nearly 83,000 beds of student accommodations in 127 communities, serving 78 college and university markets across 34 U.S. states. Scion employs over 1,750 team members and has approximately $9 billion of assets under management. Scion also acts as an independent advisor to colleges and universities, foundations, and private-sector providers, with experience in more than 250 campus markets.

Rob also chairs fundraising for the University of Michigan’s new $20 million pre-seed venture fund “Accelerate Blue”, which supports University-affiliated start-ups and has a focus on cybersecurity, AI, mobility, fintech and cleantech.  After recently losing his 15 year-old son to suicide caused by cyber-bullying, Rob and his wife have recently launched a national initiative “Buckets Over Bullying” to honor their son’s legacy through awareness of and combating bullying and cyber-bullying, as well as social media reform. 

Rob serves on the Board of Directors of World Business Chicago, the premier public-private economic development agency in the Midwest.  He is also a member of the Chicago Chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).

Robert earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan. He has served on the board of Kids Kicking Cancer since 2008 and was instrumental in the creation of a Chicago-area chapter. He lives in Chicago, IL with his wife Rosellene and children Mia and Sydney.
